The Trades Club Hebden Bridge

For me, The Trades Club really is ‘The Jewel in The Crown’ of Hebden Bridge.

Its a place for the local community and visitors alike. The staff and local’s make everyone welcome and most importantly, it serves great beer and food, and to top it all it’s a music venue!

Back in the day, Hebden Bridge was a thriving centre for the cotton industry and several trades unions built it as a joint enterprise in 1924. Following the decline of the cotton trade, the club fell into disrepair, before being taken over by the combined Hebden Bridge and Luddendenfoot district Labour parties. The Trades Club Social Club has leased the first floor since 1982 from where it operates as an independent socialist members club.

In May 2016 the Club was formally constituted as a members’ co-operative and for several years has been a celebrated venue for live music.

On Friday 21st Feb, we boarded the train from Manchester to get there early before the Fyfe Dangerfield gig.

Having had a couple of beers, we decided to sample some of the Indonesian cuisine from Rostini’s Indonesian Kitchen You can pre-order before you visit, but we ordered on the night and for between £5 and £8 each we got a fantastic meal washed down with a well priced bottle of red. (Plus a cheeky shot of the chef and a previous Lord Mayor of Hebden Bridge)

Great preparation for the gig by the extremely talented Fyfe Dangerfiled and a few images along the way. A top night.

On all fronts, The Trades Club is a place to visit again and again. I guarantee you won’t be disappointed!
