The Talleyrand Levenshulme Manchester

The opening of The Talleyrand bar on Stockport Road Levenshulme, is not only an exciting new venture for the owners and local residents, but also introduces some history simply by its name.

East Levenshulme Manchester used to be known as Talleyrand. It included Talleyrand House (later renamed as Barlow House) and a street, Talleyrand Row. It was said the French statesman Charles Maurice de Talleyrand-Périgordonce stayed there during his exile from France 1792-1794.

I called into the Talleyrand, which is situated next door to Trove, as the lads were starting on its refurbishment.

Whilst I have never lived in Levenshulme, I have had a strong association with the area through work, family and friends and I think its important to promote and support new business, particularly young entrepreneurs just starting out, and from conversation with the lads, I ended up photographing the project over the weeks as they worked extremely hard to meet an opening deadline.

The bar is a relaxed and informal space, great for a beer or a coffee and also has the added bonus of space at the rear which is to be used for exhibitions.

If the opening night was anything to go by, the bar will have a bright future. Good luck lads and I hope you enjoy the images
